Norsk namnelag - The Norwegian Name Association - is an organization for people who are interested in names of all types, especially place names and personal names, including first names (given names) and surnames (family names or last names). Regrettably, we do not have the means to publish an English version of all the information on the Web site. But we welcome questions about names from readers in other countries, and we urge interested users to contact us. We assume that Norwegian surnames and given names will be of most interest to people with Norwegian ancestry, people who have come across names in their families or in the Norwegian immigrant environment.
